HIS MOM AND DAD, GRANDMA, LITTLE BROTHER, AND SISTER AND A FEW AUNTS AND UNCLES ARE HERE TONIGHT TO CELEBRATE WITH HIM. MICHAEL HAS BEEN WORKING PROFESSIONALLY IN HIS FIELD FOR NEARLY A YEAR, WITH A THURSTON COUNTY SUPERIOR COURTESY. PLEASE JOIN ME IN WELCOMING MICHAEL CLARKE, JR., TO THE PODIUM AS YOUR STUDENT SPEAKER. [APPLAUSE]>>WELCOME FACULTY, STAFF, BOARD OF TRUSTEES, FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 2018. I’M HUMBLED BY THIS OPPORTUNITY TO BE HERE AND CELEBRATE WITH YOU TODAY. MY NAME IS MICHAEL CLARKE, AND AS MR. LATIOLAIS MENTIONED, I WAS A STUDENT IN THE HUMAN SERVICES PROGRAM AND THE LEGISLATIVE OFFICER WITH THE ASSOCIATE STUDENT GOVERNMENT DURING MY TIME AT CPTC. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE ISN’T SOMETHING THAT JUST HAPPENS. IT TAKES TIME, PATIENCE, AND THE SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT OF MANY PEOPLE IN OUR SUPPORT NETWORK. I WANT TO TAKE A MOMENT AND GIVE THOSE THAT HAVE SUPPORTED US MANY OF WHOM ARE HERE TODAY, VERY HOT, A ROUND OF APPLAUSE. [APPLAUSE] ON A PERSONAL NOTE, I WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE A FEW PEOPLE IN MY OWN SUPPORT NETWORK. MY GRANDMOTHER FOR SETTING AN EXAMPLE AND BEING SOMEONE TO LOOK UP TO. MY PARENTS FOR ENCOURAGING ME NEVER TO GIVE UP, ESPECIALLY MY DAD WHO ALWAYS PUSHED ME TO DO MY BEST. MY SIBLINGS FOR ALLOWING ME TO SET A POSITIVE EXAMPLE FOR THEM, AND MY FRIENDS FOR BEING THERE WHEN TIMES WERE TOUGH. SPECIFICALLY MY FRIEND TRACY WHO INSPIRES ME TO BE A BETTER PERSON DAILY. IDLES LIKE TO THANK A FEW PEOPLE THAT WORK AT CPTC THAT HAVE MADE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON MY LIFE. DR. LOVEDAY, COLLEGE PRESIDENT. DR. DOTSON, V.P. OF STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT, DR. HAUZINGER, MINE INSTRUCTOR AND MENTOR IN THE HUMAN SERVICES PROGRAM, AND OF COURSE I WOULDN’T BE HERE WITHOUT HIS CONSISTENT SUPPORT, CAL ERWIN, DIRECTOR OF STUDENT INVOLVEMENT AND SUPERVISOR. THESE DEDICATED PROFESSIONALS SAW POTENTIAL IN ME AND WORKED WITH ME DAY IN AND DAY OUT, CHALLENGING ME, KEEPING ME FOCUSED, AND ALWAYS REMINDING ME TO TRUST THE PROCESS. ANY TIME I NEEDED ADVICE, MENTORSHIP, HAD PERSONAL PROBLEMS, OR WAS STRUGGLING, IT WAS THESE PEOPLE WHO WERE THERE FOR ME AND REMINDED ME OF MY GOALS AND AMBITIONS. CPTC SHAPED ME INTO THE PROFESSIONAL I AM TODAY. IT WAS MY EXPERIENCE BOTH IN AND OUT OF THE CLASSROOM WHERE I DEVELOPED MY ABILITY TO ADVOCATE FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS ON ISSUES THAT AFFECT OUR COMMUNITY. DURING MY LAST ACADEMIC YEAR AT CPTC, I WAS ABLE TO SECURE FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT IN MY CAREER FIELD WITH THE THURSTON COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT AS A COUNSELOR. I HAVE SINCE CONTINUED MY EDUCATION AND AM PURSUING A BACHELOR’S IN COUNSELING. IT IS MY GOAL TO COMPLETE MY MASTER’S DEGREE AND ONE DAY COME BACK TO CLOVER PARK AND TEACH IN THE HUMAN SERVICES PROGRAM. IT IS TIMES LIKE THIS, MOMENTOUS OCCASIONS AND MILESTONES, THAT GIVE ME PAUSE TO REFLECT ON THE PAST, ACKNOWLEDGE THE PRESENT, AND LOOK FORWARD TO THE FUTURE. IF YOU’LL ALLOW ME, I’D LIKE TO TAKE A MOMENT AND REFLECT ON MY OWN LIFE AND WHAT LED ME HERE TODAY. I’M FREQUENTLY ASKED HOW I CAME TO WORK WITH ADDICTED, HIGH-RISK, HIGH-NEEDS OFFEND THERE’S ARE GOING THROUGH THE COURT SYSTEM. THIS IS A LOADED QUESTION FOR ME. WHEN I ENROLLED AT CLOVER PARK, I HAD JUST SERVED A FOUR-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE DUE TO POOR LIFE CHOICES. I TOLD MYSELF I WOULD NEVER AGAIN DO ANYTHING THAT WOULD JEOPARDIZE MY FREEDOM, AND WHATEVER OPPORTUNITY I HAD IN THE FUTURE, I WOULD MAKE THE MOST OF IT. [APPLAUSE] I MOVED 300 MILES FROM MY HOMETOWN AND WAS EAGER TO START A NEW LIFE FOR MYSELF. WITH MY HISTORY OF ADDICTION, CRIME, AND INCARCERATION, I WASN’T SURE WHAT I WAS GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO. I KNEW I WOULDN’T LET MY BACKGROUND PREVENT ME FROM HAVING A MEANINGFUL CAREER WITH A POWERFUL PURPOSE. I HAD HEARD STORIES OF SUCCESS FROM PEOPLE THAT CAME FROM SIMILAR BACKGROUNDS, AND IF THEY COULD DO IT, SO COULD I. THIS WAS MY OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE THE MOST OF MY LIFE AND IT WAS THE EDUCATION AND MY EXPERIENCE AT CLOVER PARK THAT TRANSFORMED MY LIFE AND HELPED ME FIND THAT PURPOSE. REFLECTING ON MY EXPERIENCE IN PRISON, I WATCHED MEN COME IN AND OUT OF THE SYSTEM, REPEATEDLY, REPEATING THE SAME OFFENSES, AND RELYING ON THEIR SAME OLD BEHAVIOR TO HAVE THEIR NEEDS MET. I SAW MENTALLY ILL MEN COME AND GO WITHOUT EVER RECEIVING ANY KIND OF MENTAL HEALTH AID OR ASSESSMENT. I EXPERIENCED A SYSTEM THAT NEGLECTED TO PROVIDE ANY TOOLS OR SKILLS NECESSARY TO BREAK THE CYCLE OF INCARCERATION. THOSE IN THE PRISON SYSTEM NEED MORE THAN REHABILITATION. THEY NEED HABILITATION. THEY NEED TO LEARN THE BASIC TOOLS FOR HEALTHY LIVING TO AVOID TURNING BACK TO DRUGS, CRIME, AND VIOLENT BEHAVIOR. THE DEGREE I AM RECEIVING TODAY HAS ALLOWED ME TO ADVOCATE FOR AND WORK DIRECTLY WITH THE COURT SYSTEM TO ESTABLISH TRUST, SAFETY, AND A PLACE FOR HEALING IN HOPES OF BREAKING THE CYCLE. [APPLAUSE] IT WAS THIS EYE-OPENING EXPERIENCE THAT LED ME TO THE HUMAN SERVICES PROGRAM. I KNEW I WANTED TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE COMMUNITY AND SERVE A POPULATION THAT WOULD BENEFIT FROM MY EXPERIENCE SUCCESSFULLY NAVIGATING THROUGH THE PRISON AND COURT SYSTEM. THIS IS MY WAY OF CONNECTING MY PAST TO MY DEGREE, AND LIFE MISSION OF HELPING TEACH PEOPLE TO LIVE AND NOT JUST SURVIVE. I AM VERY THANKFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO ME TO MAKE A BETTER LIFE FOR MYSELF, FOR THE EDUCATION I’VE RECEIVED, AND A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE. I WAS ABLE TO ACHIEVE ALL THIS AND MORE ALL AT CLOVER PARK TECHNICAL COLLEGE. [APPLAUSE] I AM EXCITED AT THE OPPORTUNITY TO HELP OTHERS GET A SECOND CHANCE. THAT SECOND CHANCE FOR MANY I WORK WITH IS THE FIRST CHANCE AT LIFE THEY’VE EVER HAD. I THANK CLOVER PARK FOR DEVELOPING MY SKILLS AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO OPEN THE DOOR TO THE REST OF MY LIFE AND HELP ME CARRY OUT MY MISSION OF SERVICE. CPTC EMPOWERED ME TO STOPPED OUT AND BE WHO I WANTED TO BE. WHILE SERVING AS YOUR LEGISLATIVE OFFICER OF THE ASSOCIATE STUDENT GOVERNMENT, I WAS ABLE TO ADVOCATE FOR CPTC AND ITS STUDENTS AT THE LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL LEVEL. THIS EXPERIENCE IGNITED MY PASSION FOR ADVOCACY, COMMUNITY BUILDING, AND SERVANT LEADERSHIP. AS THE LEGISLATIVE OFFICER, I WAS AIBLE TO ALIGN MY PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS AND FOLLOW THE PROGRESSION AND EVEN TESTIFY ON BEHALF OF A POLICY BILL THAT WOULD ALLOW FOR CORRECTION CENTER INMATES TO BE ABLE TO EARN AN ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE WHILE INCARCERATED. I KEPT MY — [APPLAUSE] I KEPT MY COOL WHEN MY VIEWPOINT WERE CHALLENGED BY LEGISLATORS, AND FOCUSED ON MY GOAL OF INCREASING AN SAYS TO THIS UNDERSERVED POPULATION. THIS BILL HAS SINCE PASSED. I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET MANY STUDENTS DURING MY TIME AT CPTC WHO SHARED STORIES OF PERSEVERANCE AND RESILIENCE WHICH MAKES TODAY’S CELEBRATION ALL THAT MORE IMPORTANT AND SIGNIFICANT. WHEN MY POSITION ENDED WITH THE ASSOCIATE STUDENT GOVERNMENT, I REALIZED THAT THE GOAL TO IMPROVE OUR LIFE UNITES US ALL. TONIGHT IS A MAJOR MILESTONE, AS WE ALL CONTINUE TO TAKE OUR LIFE IN DIRECTIONS THAT WERE ONLY ONCE A DREAM. AS THE CLASS OF 2018, IT’S OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO USE THE TOOLS AND SCHOOLS WE HAVE GAINED WHILE AT CPTC TO IMPACT THE COMMUNITIES WE’VE CHOSEN TO SERVE, BOTH PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY. GRADUATES, YOU HAVE YOUR OWN STORY THAT HAS LED YOU HERE TO THIS VERY MOMENT. I WANT TO CHALLENGE NOT ONLY MYSELF, BUT ALL OF YOU TO USE YOUR EXPERIENCE TO INFLUENCE FUTURE DECISIONS AND GIVE VOICE TO THOSE THAT DON’T HAVE THEIR OWN. WE ALL CAME TO CLOVER PARK TECHNICAL COLLEGE WANTING TO TAKE OUR LIFE IN A NEW DIRECTION. WE’VE COME THIS FAR. WHERE WILL WE GO FROM HERE? CONGRATULATIONS, CLASS OF 2018. YOU’VE EARNED THIS. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]>>THAT WAS WONDERFUL, MICHAEL. YOU HAVE MADE YOUR MARK ON CLOVER PARK AS WELL, AND ON OUR LIVES AS WELL DURING YOUR TIME THERE. THANK YOU. THIS YEAR, CLOVER PARK TECHNICAL COLLEGE IS CELEBRATING ITS 75th YEAR OF PROVIDING QUALITY EDUCATION TO MEET THE WORK FORCE NEEDS OF OUR REGION. AS WE COME TO THE END OF OUR ANNIVERSARY YEAR, IT’S PARTICULARLY FITTING THIS EVENING TO HAVE AS OUR GUEST SPEAKER SOMEONE WHO HAS HAD A SUBSTANTIAL IMPACT ON OUR COLLEGE, AS WELL AS ON THE LIVES OF COUNTLESS MEN AND WOMEN ACROSS OUR STATE WHO HAVE PURSUED A TECHNICAL CAREER, MUCH LIKE OUR GRADUATES. MR. MARK MARTINEZ IS THE PRESIDENT OF WASHINGTON’S BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION TRADES COUNCIL. IN THIS ROLE, HE HAS FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE OF THE COUNTLESS OPPORTUNITIES AND CRITICAL NEED WITHIN OUR STATE FOR MORE PEOPLE TO PURSUE CAREERS IN THE TRADES. HE IS KNOWN STATEWIDE FOR ADVOCATING FOR WORKERS AND SUPPORTING PROGRAMS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO A HIGHLY SKILLED DIVERSE WORK FORCE. MR. MARTINEZ RECEIVED HIS JOURNEYMAN ROOFER CERTIFICATE FROM THE PIERCE COUNTY ROOFERS JOINT APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING COUNCIL IN 1985, AND HAS BEEN A STRONG ADVOCATE FOR APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION EVER SINCE. HE IS ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY, SERVING AS AH THE LABOR MEMBER OF THE PIERCE COUNTY COUNCIL, AND A SENIOR MEMBER OF THE LEADERSHIP FORUM. IN THE PAST HE’S SERVED AS THE TRUSTEE FOR THE TACOMA PUBLIC LIBRARY, AND AS A COMMISSIONER FOR THE PIERCE COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY,. MR. MARTINEZ HAS SERVED ON THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR CLOVER PARK TECHNICAL COLLEGE SINCE JANUARY 2009, WHERE HE PROVIDES VALUED INSIGHT AND LEADERSHIP. IT’S MY GREAT PLEASURE TO INTRODUCE MR. MARK MARTINEZ, WHO WILL DELIVER OUR COMMENCEMENT ADDRESS.>>PRESIDENT LOVEDAY, MY FELLOW TRUSTEES, FACULTY AND STAFF, FRIENDS AND FAMILY OF THE CLOVER PARK COMMUNITY, AND ESPECIALLY THE GRADUATES HERE TONIGHT, THANK YOU FOR THE CHANCE TO SHARE A FEW WORDS WITH YOU THIS EVENING. TONIGHT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT THREE THINGS — ONE IS THE REASON CLOVER PARK EXISTS. SECOND ONE WILL BE A CHALLENGE I’M GOING TO GIVE TO THE GRADUATES AS THEY LEAVE THIS INSTITUTION. AND I’M GOING TO END WITH THE GREATEST ADVICE THAT I CAN GIVE ANYBODY ABOUT HOW TO SUCCEED IN YOUR CAREER. CLOVER PARK TECHNICAL COLLEGE EXISTS FOR ONE REASON. AND THAT’S NEED. THE NEED TO HAVE A SKILLED AND DEDICATED WORK FORCE THAT CAN WORK WITH BOTH THEIR HANDS AND THEIR HEADS. AT THE START OF THE COLLEGE IN 1942, THE NEED WAS FOR AIRPLANE MECHANICS, SHIP BUILDERS, AND AUTO MECHANICS TO SUPPORT OUR TROOPS DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR. TODAY STRONG MINDS AND SKILLED HANDS ARE NEEDED IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, HEALTH CARE, BUSINESS, ADVANCED MANUFACTURING, AND NURSING. WE CONTINUE TO INSTRUCT IN THOSE FIRST SKILLS IN OUR AUTOMOTIVE AND TRADES AND AVIATION SCHOOLS. CLOVER PARK’S STRENGTH IS THE ABILITY TO ADAPT TO A CHANGING ECONOMY. AS REALLY SMART PEOPLE DREAM UP THE NEXT TECHNOLOGICAL BREAKTHROUGH, THERE IS THE NEED FOR OTHER REALLY SMART PEOPLE WHO ARE WILLING TO WORK WITH THEIR HANDS TO BOTH BUILD AND MAINTAIN THAT TECHNOLOGY. AND THAT GOES FOR OLD TECHNOLOGY TOO. SOMEONE HAS TO KEEP THE LIGHTS ON, THE HEAT GOING, AND THE PLANES FLYING. AND SOMEONE HAS TO HAVE THAT CARING TOUCH IN A MEDICAL EMERGENCY. OUR ONGOING PARTNERSHIP WITH INDUSTRY LEADERS AND PROFESSIONALS KEEP OUR INSTITUTION RELEVANT AND CURRENT, MAKING OUR STUDENTS THE BEST APPLICANTS FOR INDUSTRY NEEDS. BUSINESSES UNDERSTAND THAT OUR GRADUATES ARE LOOKING FOR A LIFELONG CAREER, NOT JUST A JOB. CLOVER PARK TECHNICAL COLLEGE IS A SCHOOL OF THE PRACTICAL. OUR GRADUATES BRING DREAMS INTO REALITY. THEY TAKE THEORY AND MAKE IT TANGIBLE. THE CAREERS THAT OUR GRADUATES ENTER INTO MAKE OUR COMMUNITY SAFER, RICHER, AND ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR ALL OF US. OKAY, NOW I’M GOING TO TELL YOU AT THIS POINT I’M FEELING KIND OF LIKE A LITTLE BIT OF A FRAUD. I CONFESS I DID NOT GRADUATE FROM A COLLEGE, AND WEARING THIS GRADUATION CAP IS MAKING ME FEEL A LITTLE UNCOMFORTABLE, SO IF YOU DON’T MIND, I’M GOING TO PUT ON MY GRADUATE CAP. [APPLAUSE] SO AS PRESIDENT LOVEDAY NOTED IN HER KIND INTRODUCTION, I CAM OUT OF THE CONSTRUCTION TRADES APPRENTICESHIP SYSTEM OF EDUCATION, AND I AM STILL DAMN PROUD TO BE A JOURNEYMAN ROOFER. [APPLAUSE] I LEARNED MY CRAFT BY WORKING ALONGSIDE SKILLED TRADESMEN THAT WERE WILLING TO GIVE UP THEIR TIME AND EXPERIENCE TO ME ON THE JOB SITE. I SAY THIS IN ORDER TO FRAME THE CHALLENGE THAT I’M GOING TO PLACE ON EACH OF THE GRADUATES HERE TONIGHT. GRADUATION IS NOT THE END OF THE ROAD. IT IS, AS WINSTON CHURCHILL SAID, “THE END OF THE BEGINNING.” AS YOU GO INTO YOUR CAREERS, YOU WILL HAVE GOOD DAYS, AND YOU WILL HAVE NOT-SO-GOOD DAYS. YOU WILL INCREASE YOUR SKILLS THROUGH EXPERIENCE, AND MASTER YOUR PROFESSION BY DOING THE WORK. AND YOU WILL FIND, HOPEFULLY, ONE OF THE GREATEST GIFTS OF ALL, THE MENTORS THAT YOU ENCOUNTER IN THE WORKPLACE. THAT PERSON THAT GIVES YOU A LITTLE BIT OF ENCOURAGEMENT, OR THAT SMALL PIECE OF ADVICE HOW TO GET ALONG WITH SOMEBODY, OR THE PERSON THAT SHOWS YOU A BETTER WAY OF DOING A TASK. AND YOU WILL KNOW THIS MENTOR BY A SECRET CODE SPOKEN BY THE WISEST OF THEM. IT’S AN INNOCENT PHRASE THAT YOU HEAR A FAIR AMOUNT, BUT YOU MAY NOT REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT IT MEANS. I WILL TELL YOU, THIS QUESTION HAS LITERALLY CHANGED MY LIFE EVERY SINGLE TIME I HEARD IT. YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE QUESTION IS? “HEY, CAN I BUY YOU A CUP OF COFFEE? I WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT SOMETHING.” FROM PUTTING AWAY MY TOOL BAGS TO GO INTO LEADERSHIP POSITIONS IN THE LABOR MOVEMENT, TO BEING APPOINTED TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AT THIS COLLEGE, EVERY CAREER CHANGE I EVER HAD STARTED WITH THAT SIMPLE QUESTION. “HEY, CAN I BUY YOU A CUP OF COFFEE? I WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT SOMETHING.” LISTEN FOR THAT QUESTION THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER. IT MAY NOT COME FROM AN OBVIOUS SOURCE. BUT ALWAYS TAKE UP THAT OPPORTUNITY AND DRINK THE COFFEE. IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. MYCHAL EVENING TO THE GRADUATES BEHIND ME IS TO BECOME THAT MENTOR. REACH BACK TO THOSE THAT FOLLOW. BE THAT PERSON YOU WISHED YOU HAD TALK — THAT HAD TALKED TO YOU. BE FREE WITH EXCHANGING IDEAS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST INVESTMENTS YOU CAN MAKE FOR YOUR CAREER. AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS TALK I PROMISED YOU I WOULD GIVE YOU ONE PIECE OF ADVICE FOR CAREER SUCCESS. THE ONE SKILL THAT ALL INDUSTRIES AND COMPANIES WILL REWARD AND VALUE. THE ONE SKILL THAT WILL ADVANCE YOUR CAREER AND YOUR LIFE. WAKE UP. BE ON TIME. EVERY DAY, FIVE DAYS A WEEK. [APPLAUSE] SO GRADUATES, AND I HATE SPEAKING WITH MY BACK TO YOU, REPEAT AFTER ME. WAKE UP.>>WAKE UP!>>BE ON TIME!>>BE ON TIME!>>EVERY DAY!>>EVERY DAY!>>FIVE DAYS A WEEK!>>FIVE DAYS A WEEK! [APPLAUSE]>>NOW, SOME MAY LAUGH AT THAT, BUT YOU ASK ANY EMPLOYER WHY THEY LET GO OF PEOPLE. USUALLY IT’S NOT BECAUSE OF TECHNICAL SKILLS, YOU CAN GET TRAINED FOR THAT. AND SOMETIMES IT’S ABOUT THE ABILITY TO GET ALONG WITH FELLOW EMPLOYEES. BUT THE NUMBER ONE REASON THAT EMPLOYERS WILL TERMINATE AN EMPLOYEE FOR THE REASON THAT THEY CAN’T GET OUT OF BED, CAN’T SHOW UP AT THE START OF SHIFT, AND CAN’T WORK THE ENTIRE WEEK. AGAIN — WAKE UP, BE ON TIME, EVERY DAY, FIVE DAYS A WEEK. IN CONCLUSION, I THANK ALL OF YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK WITH YOU. I AM HONORED TO BE A TRUSTEE OF THIS COLLEGE AND PROUD OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THESE GRADUATES. AND GRADUATES, REMEMBER, ALWAYS DRINK THE COFFEE, AND BUY YOURSELF THE BEST ALARM CLOCK ON THE MARKET. THANK YOU. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]>>THANK YOU, MR. MARTINEZ. I KNOW THE GRADUATES ARE GOING TO ACCEPT YOUR CHALLENGE, BECAUSE THEY ALL WANT TO BE SUCCESSFUL. WILL THE GRADUATES FOR THE BACHELOR OF APPLIED SCIENCE DEGREE, THE ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED TECHNOLOGY DEGREES, THE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION, HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, AND HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY PLEASE RISE. PRESIDENT LOVEDAY, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, AND GUESTS, ON BEHALF OF THE CLOVER PARK TECHNICAL COLLEGE FACULTY, I PRESENT TO YOU THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 2018 — [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE] AND CERTIFY THAT EACH OF THE GRADUATES HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREES, THE CERTIFICATES, THE HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMAS, AND THE HIGH SCHOOL EFFICIENCIES WHICH THEY ARE ABOUT TO RECEIVE. HERE THEY ARE. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]>>GRADUATES, PLEASE HAVE A SEAT, AND WE WILL HAVE YOU COME FORWARD BY ROW WITH YOUR DIPLOMA. [READING NAMES]>>WILL THE GRADUATES PLEASE RISE? [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE] MEMBERS OF THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 2018, ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, THE FACULTY AND STAFF OF CLOVER PARK TECHNICAL COLLEGE, I PRESENT TO YOU WITH THE APPROPRIATE BACHELOR’S DEGREE, ASSOCIATE DEGREE CERTIFICATE OR DIPLOMA, AND BESTOW ON YOU ALL THE HONORS, RIGHTS, AND PRIVILEGES THAT YOU HAVE EARNED. AS A SYMBOL OF THE ATTAINMENT OF YOUR ACADEMIC CREDENTIAL, YOU MAY NOW TRANSFER YOUR TASSELS FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR CAP TO THE LEFT SIDE. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE] LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I PRESENT TO YOU THE CLOVER PARK TECHNICAL COLLEGE GRADUATING CLASS OF 2018. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE] AS WE CONCLUDE OUR CEREMONY, THE GRADUATES WILL BE EXITING AND MOVING OUT TO MEET YOU OUT THIS EXIT. PLEASE WAIT UNTIL THE GRADUATES ARE OFF THE STAGE. AND WE’LL SEE YOU AFTER THAT. I DECLARE THESE PROCEDURES TO BE CLOSED. THANK YOU. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]
