Riverside Community Hospital’s Center for Surgical Weight Loss

(upbeat music) – [Isaac] My name’s Isaac Padilla. I had a bariatric surgery,
or a gastric sleeve, with an intestinal reconstruction, here at Riverside Community Hospital. – I had gastric bypass
surgery in November 22, 2014. Mainly the reason that I had it done was because I was having
a hard time losing weight. – I got a welcome packet
in the mail one day, and I started researching everything, and I decided maybe I
could do this myself. So I tried, did more dieting, more exercising, it wasn’t working. So I got ahold of Dr. Coon’s office, went in for a consultation,
and with that consultation, I heard the words, “If
you don’t do anything “about your weight, you could more “than likely be dead
by the time you’re 40.” – We do all commonly recognized
bariatric operations. And we are a Center of Excellence with the Surgical Review Corporation. The main reason people
have bariatric surgery is, I believe, for restoration
of their health. For those that have diabetes have great recovery from that
disease, hypotension is helped significantly, high cholesterol, likewise, is helped significantly. Often times, they have significant
arthritis in their knees, and they can hardly walk. The loss of 50, 75, 100 pounds makes it to the point that they almost
have no pain at all. – You learn a whole new
lifestyle with this. – I was always tired, exhausted, like I had to drag myself out of
bed every day in the morning. Now that I’ve had the gastric bypass, I feel I have energy and I
want to be up and running everywhere and the
day’s not enough for me. – I can go out and do more
things with my family and friends that I was never able to
do, or I was afraid to do. (upbeat music)
